Methods:
1. Find a suitable sweater and lay it flat. Figure out where on the back of the sweater you want to add the chain.
2. Cut two pieces of ribbon, each about an inch long, and fold each one in half to make loops.
3. Place the loops on the back of the sweater on the wrong side of the V-neck and pin in place. Hand sew the ribbons to the sweater with just enough of the ribbon loops sticking out to clip the lobster clasps to.
4. Put on the sweater and measure the distance between the ribbon loops with a measuring tape. With a jump ring, add a lobster clasp to to one end of a piece of chain and another to the spot on the chain that is the length you just measured on your sweater (mine was 11″). Before you cut the chain, clip both ends to your ribbon loops to make sure it’s the right length, and adjust if necessary. It took me a couple of tries adjusting the length to get it right, and I still might shorten it a little.
5. After you have your chain the proper length, cut it with the wire-cutters and clip it to your sweater loops.
Have fun with it! I can think of many possibilities for this involving chains of different lengths, styles, and configurations.
