Celtic Butterfly Pendant

  1. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 11
Begin by making a small circle and then rolling it.
  2. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 2 2
Make a small point and another spiral around the first circle.
  3. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 3 3
Form a loop to mark the tip of the wing, and curve the wire back down along an invisible representation of what would be a spine for the butterfly.
  4. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 4 4
Make another loop. For the next part, you'll have wire spirals intersecting each other so it'll be tricky (to some degree..).
  5. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 5 5
Bring the wire up and under a spiral.
  6. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 6 6
Then bring the wire back down. (see the intersection?)
  7. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 7 7
    Make another loop.
  8. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 8 8
Bring the wire down in a curve to outline the bottom section of the wing.
  9. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 9 9
After making a loop to mark the top of the wing's bottom half, cut the wire short (leave about an inch).
  10. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 10 10
Tuck the cut edge as shown so that yet again, two spirals intersect.
  11. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 11 11
Curl the cut end into a circle before making a spiral that's similar to the one in the top part of the wing.
One half of the wing done!

  12. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 12 12
For this wing, the steps are basically the same EXCEPT that you want this to be a mirror image; thus, the wire overlaps must be in the correct orientation.
For this picture, notice which wire is on top of which in the upper loop of the wing.
  13. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 13 13
For this picture, notice which wire is on top of which for that loop.
  14. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 14 14
Tuck the wire on top of the spiral instead of behind this time.
  15. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 15 15
For this picture, notice which wire is on top of which for this loop.
  16. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 16 16
For this picture, notice which wire is on top of which in the bottom loop of the wing.
  17. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 17 17
For this picture, notice which wire is on top of which in the loops intersection.
  18. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 18 18
Now you have true mirror images in that even the overlapping parts are correct!
  19. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 19 19
Use your wire to form a simple antenna (spirals at each end of the wire) and body. Then grab thinner wire to connect the wings to the body.
  20. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 20 20
Your pendant is finally complete, but you still need to add a jump ring and chain..
  21. How to make a wire wrapped pendant. Celtic Butterfly Pendant - Step 21 21
String one of the top loops through a jump ring and then add a necklace chain to complete your pendant. You're now done (and hopefully pleased with the result)!
